I have recently applied for a US Visa. I have completed all the steps for the visa application after the submission of the DS 160 form fee, but I am not able to schedule an appointment for the visa. I have to attend a mega conference organized by the National Consortium Of Ayurveda Medicine in Orlando, Florida, on October 27–29, 2023. I am invited as a speaker for that conference. I am an officer of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. I got an NOC from the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and FCRA clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Kindly resolve the matter as soon as possible and provide the appointment date as earliest.

I want to travel with my child and my husband, I’ve been in the united states 5 times! But would be the first time with them. My kid is 1 y.o. so his passaport has a short expiration date. At first, I schedule the interview for more than 400 days away! I’m trying to reduce this time every day by rescheduling…We really wanted to travel before he gets to 2 y.o. but we can’t. Now hope we get the visa before the 3…. ( a big raise in the cost of the travel because he started to pay for everything).

I’m brasilian and I received flight tickets to the US as a birthday gift. The travel will be on October 2023, but I just found out about the very long wait time to get a visitors visa. It is so sad, I’m afraid I’m gonna loose my chance to visit the US just because it’s not being possible to get a visa… Somebody needs to do something about this issue!

After 10 years since I’ve last been to the US I would like to take my family for our family vacation. My understanding of the wait times is that the United States lacks a visa policy. If the target is balance the risk of illegal immigration and the tourist spend the current one-model-fits-all process is bound to shift the scale to only one of these objectives. Brazil for instance has no visa requirements to Europe or Japan – so in general terms the country is already perceived as a low risk origin. In addition to this the visa process overextends itself by requiring tourists who have already been to the US and high-income countries multiple times and possess a high income to go through an interview which will not provide any relevant information about the applicant that is relevant to its perceived risk level.

I have a ticket for January 2024 and the only available appointment date for interview is for September 2024 only! We will lose the ticket and the opportunity to travel to the USA.

I have been traveling to the United States every year since 2005, always staying around 15 days in the country. My visa expires this month, and now I found out that the queue in São Paulo is 527 days long. Unfortunately, my 2023 and 2024 trip will not take place, my 3 young children are inconsolable. Please auto-renew for travelers like me and my family who only want to spend a few days a year sightseeing in your country! My last trip was in May 2022 and I already had plans to go in September 2023. I have over a million miles on American Airlines to spend on future trips!

It’s hard to wait more than 16 months to have the interview to get my VISA. I do have plans to travel to the USA, but still waiting for the VISA to be issued. Please make something to prevent this situation.

I planned my trip to the US with my wife for march 2023 at our vacations. We would spend 12 days in California but after a long wait for the visa interview they refused it and in the same day I bought our tickets to visit Morocco in the same period. It was an amazing trip that should be to the USA. It is funny because we have fulfilled all required prerequisites and we travel to different countries every year during our vacations but even that they didn´t give us a visa.

Waited all the pandemic to be able to travel, waited a year…on long queues for 1st visa, and it is now worst than before. Having to enter in the site on later hours, praying for an opportunity. I want travel this year, if to travel to the US is this difficult, will go elsewhere.

I understand and agree that the United States has a duty and right to regulate tourists. but my family of five gave up traveling for tourism and study because there is no possibility of waiting two years for an entry visa. my eldest son needed a student visa, got accepted to a university in the US and I was going to pay. but I couldn’t visit my son due to lack of a visa, the one for students is faster. We decided that he would study in England, he is already studying there, he started college this year, although a little more expensive it is being much better, we can visit our son whenever we want, or mostly if he needs some help

Seria maravilhoso!

I work for a Miami-based company that organizes trade shows. Back in June 2021, my boss required me to apply for a B1/B2 visa. We were so surprised to find that the waiting time was 18 months! We couldn’t believe it. For pre-pandemic applications, the waiting time was about 1 month, at most. I tried many, many times to reschedule to an earlier date through the US Embassy in Colombia website, I applied for an emergency appointment, and even our CEO wrote to the Florida state representative asking for assistance in expediting the interview date, to no avail. I had my interview last January, and even though there are always a lot of people at the embassy, this time there were a lot more than there used to be.

I can’t get colleagues and clients to US based exhibitions that we either attend or produce. Have written numerous times to local congresswoman who refers petition to State department. Nothing gets solved; business is lost.

Hello, I am the director of a nonprofit in Mexico City. We accompany and advocate people that grew up undocumented in the United States and because they returned or were deported have been in Mexico. We have a program called Visa Justice, for years we have accompanied folks apply for nonimmigrant visas. Since the beginning of the pandemic we have seen the long waiting times and would like to see if there is any possibility we can talk with someone from here, find maybe ways to collaborate and uplift our work and these demands we have in common. Thank you for reading my text and I hope to hear from you.

I am a travel agent, the difficulty of scheduling a visa application for the US makes clients give up the trip and chose a different destination.

Soy agente de viajes, la dificultad de agendar una solicitud de visa para USA, hace que los clientes desistan del viaje, y escojan otro destino.

Well, I started my visa process, very excited because I want to return to NYC and my visa expired about 10 years ago, I raised the money and registered, I did all the procedures and when they told me that my appointment was for 2024, I was discouraged. Obviously, I didn’t pay any more and I didn’t register again.

I am a tour operator specializing in incentive travel. Apart from retail sales, in my opinion, the biggest impact is the dropouts and consequent change of destination USA due to the time it takes to obtain a visa or renew it. This year there were dozens of groups that did not accept to award their employees to the USA, many of which are salespeople and managers who do not have a tradition of traveling, therefore they did not have a visa in their passport.

We have invited speakers to celebrate and attend Ayurveda conference in Orlando Florida in 2023. Most of them want to come but cannot get visas. This will be a big loss for the US economy and Florida tourism as they would stay and spend in shopping and sightseeing in US, during their travel. Please give immediate dates for US visa interview for first time application. Thank you.

I want to take a cruise to Alaska with my family but I will not be able to because the earliest appointment I was able to find is 8 months away, by then, my visa would be expired by one month.

Quiero hacer un crucero a Alaska con mi familia y no voy a poder porque mi cita para la renovación solo está disponible dentro de 8 meses y para ese momento mi visa tendría 1 mes de vencida.

I have reapplied for a B-2 Visa to renew my present one, which will expire 27 Jan. 2023. I have been given a date to renew it in person: August 3. 2023. I have attempted to contact the Madrid Embassy to request that I be given a waiver to appear in person. Can not make contact. I am married to an American citizen, have a Social Security number and have filed USA joint returns for the about the last 10 years. Can I renew my Visa and not have to appear in person? Also, can I get it soon?

My daughter turned 15 and we’d planned to visit her godmother in the U.S. next summer (2023). The delay in getting the VISA disappointed us, and we postponed our plans. We recently learned that the interview takes more than a year. Now we plan to meet her godmother in Europe, which is much easier to get to.

ToursLimited is a DMC headquartered out of Atlanta GA. We specialize in inbound travel primarily from India and Middle East. The tourist visa required from visitors in India to the USA had been completely on hold since the onset of Covid. The pandemic had virtually brought our business to a complete halt. We were excited that in 2022 the recovery started but soon the excitement banished because of non issuance of tourist visas. This situation has to be remedied as soon as possible. Letting the inbound travel recover and flourish.

Broadway Inbounds’ expertise is wholesale distribution of Broadway Tickets. We make it easier for international travelers to explore and buy tickets for shows, in advance, at fair prices in their own language and currency. The shut down was a major blow for us and for Broadway. These on-going, extensive Visa delays are hurting the recovery and the business dramatically.

For two years, our business held on as many others did through the pandemic. At last, our receptive business can return to “normal” yet here we are again, struggling to survive due to the long wait times for visas. We all anticipated pent up demand, however, many passengers are now discouraged and the United States is losing out on this business to other destinations.

I applied for a US visa for myself and for my wife in November 2021 and deposited fees in December 2021. I was trying to get an appointment daily but even writing didn’t help. Now I got appointment in April 2024. I have been unable to visit my son over the last four years who is studying in the US.

As the largest outdoor tour operator in Los Angeles, international guests made up over half of our clientele. Our business is seeing considerably higher cancellation and rescheduling rates as our international guests face much longer visa wait times. Not only does fewer international guests mean considerably less revenue, but the cancellations and rescheduling also greatly impact our staffing costs even as we are facing higher wages and inflation.

As a small business owner and tour operator, my business is dependent upon the international market. We need compression in the marketplace to increase the number of guests and international business will assist this.

At Aqua Surf School, we have a variety of surfing students ranging from locals to visitors from throughout the US and internationally. Now that travel is back on the rise, it is evident how important it is for our school to host our international visitors from around the globe.

The Market and our many small businesses have been negatively impacted by the loss of international visitors. Guests from these countries tended to visit during the spring and fall shoulder seasons, helping sustain our businesses during non-peak travel periods.

My daughter is a research scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. She is living alone and needs me to visit for support but I am not able to help my child because my visa appointment is not until Feb 2024! She will be graduating that year. I need to visit the U.S. and help her but can’t due to the long wait.

I have been working on bringing my kids to the U.S. My application was approved here in the U.S. in Oct 2021 and the case transferred to the Lagos office. I travelled to Lagos last December hoping my kids will be called for interview, but I was completely disappointed and returned back to U.S. in April 2022. Since then, I have been waiting for my kids to be given an interview date. I honestly do not want my kids to be in Nigeria during the forthcoming election in February/ March. I will be happy if something favorable can be done to make this happen. Thank you.

I am a 78 year old man who has to wait till 2025 May for an interview. I had a B1/B2 visa till 2016 and did not have any adverse report… I need the visa as my wife and I have booked our tickets to go see our grandchild in June 2023. It will help to reduce the backlog if they remove the necessity of having an interview for those who have had an impeccable B1/B2 visa, irrespective of when it expired.

I am not able to have my adult kids or any relatives visit us any time soon considering the +400 days to get an interview appointment. Besides the fact, I’m also waiting for my spouse visa (now 1 year waiting, what was supposed to take 4 months).

Me and my husband are senior citizens in India. We want to visit our daughter in the U.S. since we have faced a very tough time staying alone during Covid…We got a visa appointment for 2024 and we submitted our application in 2021. At least U.S. embassy can give some waiver to senior citizens or keep them on priority. Please reconsider and speed up the process or at least give some waiver to senior citizens.

Been checking the website daily for an early appointment, but no luck. I have to travel for my clinical observerships, but sadly that won’t happen. I even have spent a heavy amount of money on these bookings. They rejected my emergency requests twice.

I am a Consulting firm and thanks to a wait time of now 1000 days, I have advised all my clients to drop USA as a Destination till 2023 end. This is sad as U.S. accounts for nearly 5% of all queries they get. This has also led to a very negative image people have of USA, most people in India feel that USA is pretty backwards when it comes to using technology.

I’ve been travelling to the U.S. for a very long time, never have I ever overstayed, followed all rules like a civilized citizen and traveller. Since my visa expired a little over 48 months I have to wait for 3 years before I get the interview date. Since pandemic I haven’t seen my family and friends, and so many other people that have suffered during that time. Now when it’s the time to reunite and share some time together, because of staff shortage we have to suffer like this. I have worked at the EU, I am ready to work as a volunteer at the US embassy, New Delhi if that helps them. Really. Thank you for creating this for this platform and humanitarian effort.

It is impossible to visit friends and family as the wait for an appointment is 2.5 years. It causes suffering and pain. As for vacation, my daughters wanted to Disneyland but now we are going to see the one in France due to the amount of time to get a visa interview.

My daughter is pregnant with complicated pregnancy and we have been trying for 5 months now and got the date of Feb 2025 currently. We even got emergency letter from the doctor but still to no avail. It was rejected in 10 minutes.

I’ve been traveling to the U.S. for many years but my most recent visa expired a few months over 48 months now the wait time for the interview is almost three years. Since pandemic I could not renew my visa and could not travel and see my family friends. Plus I wanted a surgery in the U.S. but could not…But now because of the staff shortage the wait time is unimaginable. Neither can I meet the people I love nor can I get a surgery. I thank you for your humanitarian effort.

I had applied for a non-immigrant visa so that I could go to USA and spend some time with my father because he had a car accident totalling his car. Even though my mother is American we are unable to get a visa appointment before June of 2025.

With 999 days waiting for an interview at the Mumbai US consulate, I’m going to miss my best friend’s wedding in February 2023. I’ll also fail to fulfill my best man duties. Heartbreaking, really. We grew up together and never in a million years thought we’d miss each other’s big day. .

I have family in the US. I applied for a visit visa in December 2021, hoping to meet family en route to Curaçao, where my son was doing his internship. No luck. The US was accepting visa applications, but not giving appointments. We visited Europe in Sept-Oct 2022, but couldn’t visit the US from there. Now, there’s a big family reunion planned in Mexico for June 2023, but it looks like I will have to skip the US again, because the earliest visa appointment I can get is for March 2025! Why did the US take my application fee when it had no intention of giving any appointments for months / years?

I would like to visit my son, daughter-in-law, and grand children in US. My last 10year visa expired more than 4 years ago, so I need to appear for interview again, and appointments are running 999 days ahead… very difficult state of affairs. Puts US government’s family values in question. Hope they can help reunite families…

We receive a lot of feedback from our overseas clients that the waiting time of getting an interview for their visa application takes from 3 months to over 6 months. And most of them decide to change their travel destinations to elsewhere. And due to this, our overseas partnering travel agents decide not to promote U.S. in their programs. If the U.S. does not improve visa processing, we will be losing our chance for business recovery even though the global tour & travel is already resumed to the pre-pandemic stage.

The long delay in getting U.S. Visa appointments is causing backlash against the U.S. visa policy. The inexplicable delay is having an impact on how the destination is perceived and clients are looking at alternative long-haul destinations which are welcoming to Indian travelers and have a simplified visa process.

I’m a journalist and I work for the 29 Horas magazine that circulates through some of the most important airports in Brazil. After the border reopening, as I realized that it was taking a year when I had filed the process of getting a visa, I got discouraged and wondered if I could save the money that would be for the visa on other priorities and travel to other destinations. Later an opportunity of a press trip to USA arose, and the estimated time of getting the visa was way ahead of what was acceptable, even for press professionals…I was discouraged by the delay, I kept thinking that maybe if I would wait a little more, I could do the process later as it comes back to the normal waiting time, as I understand that the repressed demand of the post-pandemic is a predominant factor for this scenario. Now I really need to issue my visa in 2023 because there are many jobs that are coming up and I can’t postpone them any longer.

In Brazil, several segments are affected, but the travel rewards, incentives and conventions markets are the ones that deal with the most impact regarding visa issue. Many companies that traditionally award or hold their conventions in the U.S. are moving to other destinations in South and Central America and Europe. The loss is huge for U.S. destinations as well as for the tour operators and agencies that handle these groups, because having these experiences in the U.S. is rewarding for those who build the product as well as for the guests and winners…the barrier of the visas issuances delay causes insecurity and large corporations give up on choosing the U.S. as their selected destination.

Even with the borders open we have lost the 2022 winter season and now we are losing the 2022 summer season as student groups cannot get visas. We have just canceled over 4,000 hotel room nights, transportation, meals, events, park tickets. Just for our company that meant a loss of $3 million in revenue (we are not the only operator in this situation). These groups stay in average 12 days, visit all attractions and do a lot of shopping. Several small businesses are affected direct – Djs, photographers, tour guides, gift shops, printer services, restaurants, etc. The consulate in Argentina for example, is only offering appointments for March 2024.
